7 TRENDS TO HAVE ON YOUR RADAR NOW BEFORE THEY EXPLODE IN SPRING

Spring is almost here – can I get a hallelujah?!! If you’re anything like me, you’ll be eager to abandon the winter thermals and resurrect those Spring wardrobe staples. For me, Spring is my absolute favourite time of year to shop – the colours, the patterns, the fabrics – they are everything that I adore.
Spring dressing requires balance – you don’t want to be too cold or too warm, and especially in cities such as London when the weather is variable, this can be harder than it sounds, meaning you often need to get a little more creative with your styling options.
Now, I’ve spoken in previous posts about how I like to invest in the classics and save more trend led pieces for those hughstreet purchases, so to help you decide which trends to invest in and look out for this season, I’ve rounded up a few of my favourites – and some notes on how to wear them.

TREND #1 – SERENITY

All white looks are in trend this Spring, and the first thing that pops into my mind is Good LORD how am I going to keep this outfit clean!!! A non-budging foundation is key, and keeping face touching to a minimum is a necessity if you want to avoid any dreaded marks on an all white ensemble, but once you’re well rehearsed, it will be worth it. There’s something very elegant and timeless about an all white look, and keep it on trend my pairing with a masculine silhouette with wide Palazzo Trousers (such as those in this post, a bargain at just £8) and a billowing blouse tucked in.
You can get creative with textures for this trend; why not mix in some ruffles or pleats to maximise on the romantic trend too as seen at Dolce & Gabbana.

TREND #2 – JEANIUS

This is a trend I find harder to rock, but double denim is back. Why not try a boyfriend fit pair of jeans with a more tailored denim blouse to add some contrast to your look, or perhaps add a faded denim jacket over your top to subtly conform to the trend (but also you’re able to whip it off in an instant if you’re not confident with the outcome!).

TREND #3 – WALK THE LINE

At last season’s fashion week, stripes were everywhere. From Lacoste and DVF, to Carolina Herrera and Altuzarra – there truly is no escaping this trend. There are many ways to wear it, ranging from bold and beautiful to classic and more restrained, so try on a few options to figure out which works best for you. If you spotted my What I Wore to Fashion Week post, you’ll see a new striped coat addition to my wardrobe – keeping your outerwear on trend is an easy way to look the part, without having to invest in a whole new collection.

TREND #4 – FLORALS, GROUNDBREAKING.

I’ll forever have the Devil Wears Prada quote buzzing in my mind whenever someone mentions florals as a trend for spring, but it truly is un-escapable. I’m not complaining either – this season, they’re whimsical and punchy, appearing on cartoonish silhouettes all the way through to flowing gowns. I, for one will be very happy to see the florals making their way onto the highstreet again, so keep an eye on my YouTube for upcoming hauls featuring this favourite trend.

Trend #5 – Go Nude
This spring, dare to bare without any of the socially unacceptable ramifications this season thanks to the skin-toned looks that are spring’s most important neutral. Whether you opt for true nude and pick a shade close to your skin tone, or keep it more feminine with a blush colour – this is another trend we won’t be able to ignore. Seen on the catwalks at DKNY, Alexander Wang and many more, this trend is already emerging into stores ahead of the Spring season.
Trend #6 – Ladylike Luxe
Channel a ladylike yet cool vibe this upcoming season with suiting, shift dresses and elegant prints. We saw Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch and more all channeling a polished vibe which I’ll be translating again in outerwear with suit-like coats such as this one from Jaeger.
Trend #7 – Sweet like Sorbet
Now I’m not talking about a mild lemon or strawberry sorbet here, oh no. This Spring, the shades are vivid; think a bright fresh orange and a dazzling lime – worn on the catwalks of Narcisso Rodriguez and Victoria Beckham last fashion week season. This is another trend that’s creeping into stores already, with bright sorbet shades of knitwear already appearing in the likes of Topshop, Asos and River Island.
